Lita Loves... Nail Polish!

In high school, I took chorus as an elective. While I can't carry a tune, I love to sing/admire those with the talent I so clearly lack (especially if there is a guitar involved...I know, how cliche, but I can't help it).

You might be wondering, what does my high school choir have to do with nail polish? Well, back in my low-maintenance days, I remember two of my friends discussing how they could never not be wearing polish on their tips as they stared with disgust at my bleak, half bitten fingernails. At the time, I thought they were crazy; but now I can't stand the site of an empty nail bed and have become a bit of a fiend when it comes to painting my nails.

While I may not be quite as polished (excuse the terrible pun) as some other nail addicts on the web (I prefer to keep my nails short and I don't go crazy about my cuticles), I have developed a bit of a hoarding habit. See below:

I have even tested out some nail art designs like using the reinforcement trick via Lauren Conrad's thebeautydepartment.com

I have dabbled with a bit of glitter, typically just on the ring finger or if I'm using Deborah Lippmann's Across the Universe. For the most part, though, I stick to solids. Every girl needs a few staples, that perfect red, a moody green/brown/gray, an almost black, a pretty pastel, and a nude. Below are a few of my favorites.

From Left to Right, Top to Bottom: Essie Silken Cord, Essie Ballet Slippers, Essie Sew Psyched, Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe, Deborah Lippmann Bitches Brew, Revlon Minted

Lita Loves... Sales!

Although we are in the heat of summer, a little bit of spring cleaning is always in season. To make room for new products and reviews as well as give you a little taste of things I once loved (but no longer work for me), please help me find someone else to love the items for sale below. Leave a comment with the name of the item you would like to purchase and I will contact you to make the transaction!

Lita Loves... Blogs!

Hello! My name is Lauren, otherwise known to my family and close friends as Lita.

For the past two years, I have gone through what I like to consider my "second puberty". Although I have always enjoyed shopping and other girly things, much of my time in high school and college was spent getting dirty on the soccer field. But, after graduating college and getting my first "real job," I discovered my love for all things beauty. After watching countless youtube videos and scouring all of the top beauty blogs, much to the demise of my parents, most of my paychecks were spent at Sephora.

A year later, I am still shamefully obsessed with the beautiful packaging of a Chanel compact, a Deborah Lippman nail polish, a Caudalie toner, and the list goes on. I often persuade myself that Emily Weiss of intothegloss.com might come photograph my bathroom cabinet at any moment and so I need to prepared! As such, I try to stay up on the latest products by filling my bloglovin' account chock full of beauty blogs. Aside from intothegloss.com, some of my favorites are CafeMakeup.com, Thebeautylookbook.com, Lisaeldridge.com and Eva Chen's tumblr (evachen212.tumblr.com).

However, now that I am back in graduate school, these sites often serve only as a way for me to get my daily "fix." In reality, I am on a budget and already have makeup overflowing from every corner of my tiny apartment. I hope Lita Loves serves as a way for me to share with you beauty reviews, blog sales and, of course, the low down on everything I love.

xoxo
